SYNOPSIS

Victoria WILSON has to date over 38 years working experience spanning farm management, planning and strategy consultant, capacity building and development consultant, technical adviser, skills acquisition training consultant, as well as teaching and research experience in the private and public sectors. Her private sector experience is rich and diverse encompassing capacity building and development, sustainable community development, impact assessment, programme and project appraisals and reputation studies among others. She has been involved in formulation of economic empowerment policies and programmes in the context of sustainable livelihoods, poverty reduction and income generation within the Niger Delta.  She has successfully undertaken assignments in the areas of strategy formulation, planning, information education and communication (IEC). Victoria has taken particular interest in the linkages between capacity building, education, skills development and economic empowerment in the Niger Delta for job creation and self-employment.

Presently, she is an Associate Professor of Plant Breeding in the Plant Science and Biotechnology department of the Faculty of Science, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She has also increasingly been involved with the Preventive Healthcare Initiative (Non Governmental Organisation) in areas of Homestead food production programs to improve diet and nutrition outcomes especially for pregnant women, lactating mothers and children by increasing availability of nutrient dense foods such as vegetables and supporting livelihoods.
